Many of you will have never heard of Hamburger Mikey… Well, until now.

Hambuger Mikey is a local hamburger shack that serves up delicious hamburgers and fries. They’ve been featured on numerous shows and news segments, with praise for their food quality and staff.

They opened in 2016 in Muskegon, MI. Their location? An old punk and hardcore club called the Ice Pick. They renovated the building, making it something special for Downtown Muskegon. Recently, they opened a second location in Spring Lake.

They’re doing something right.

That’s why I’m looking at 4 ways Hamburger Mikey is leading right.

4 Ways Hamburger Mikey Is Leading Right

Hamburger Mikey is always trying new things:

Every month, Hamburger Mikey features a burger and fries of the month. These are unique flavor profiles you may not think of on a burger.

Some recent BOMs have been the Lobster Burger (think surf and turf), Pizza Burger, and Peanut Butter Burger.

The flavors are bold. They’re unique. They bring customers to the door.

It’s always something new at Hamburger Mikey.

What can you do that is new to your organization? What could set you apart and draw in interest?

When you do something new, you create buzz. Find that new thing to do.

Hamburger Mikey is always collaborating:

Along with their BOMs and FOMs, Hamburger Mikey is collaborating with local businesses and restaurants. It’s been amazing to see the caliber of businesses they’ve partnered with.

They released a Ham and Jam Burger. To do this, they partnered with Jeremy Paquin of Blueberry Haven to use their blueberry pepper jelly. Talk about a work of art! For their Pizza Burger, they collaborated with local pizza shop Third Coast Pizza.

Every time they post something, it seems like there’s a new collaboration happening. It’s not only raising awareness for their business, but they’re also helping raise awareness for other local businesses.

Who are you collaborating with? If you’re not, why not?

Collaboration raises both organizations. You can promote other great organizations in your area, and they can promote you.

Collaboration is like a rising tide. It raises all ships in the water.

Hamburger Mikey has expanded their reach:

The restaurant started with one location in an old, rundown concert venue. They’ve now expanded to a second location about 15 minutes away. Both locations are always packed.

They saw a need to open a second location, and they did. It’s been a boon to their business.

Do you believe you’ve reached the extent of your reach? Does your business feel like it can’t get any bigger?

It might be time for you to expand. Look for ways to open a new location, branch off, or bring on more people.

Expansion is another key to growth you need to look into.

Hamburger Mikey helps their community:

Maybe the thing I love most about Hamburger Mikey is their love for their community. They’re always doing something to help those in need.

The restaurant began an initiative called Mikey Gives Back. It’s powered by the Karmic Business Model. This is how it works:

Every Friday, Hamburger Mikey uses 3.5% of its sales, along with 3.5% of employees’ tips (voluntary on the employees’ part), to provide food for its community.

They saw a need in the community. They then went to work to solve one of those issues.

Your business doesn’t have to do something big or grand to help its community. You can decide to use a small portion of your sales to help others.

Imagine giving back 1% to a local non-profit, finding an organization helping displaced mothers, or helping someone out of sex slavery. That 1% will go a long way.

Don’t think you have to be a large organization to make a huge impact. Hamburger Mikey is showing that even small, local businesses can make a huge impact.
