Where’s Your Passion?
Passion isn’t just for the bedroom. It’s for you, your organization, and what you do. If your passion is in the wrong place, you won’t get the things that need to be done, done.
Why? Because passion does four things:
Passion gives you motivation
I already mentioned that it’s not motivation you’re lacking. It’s something else. That something else is passion.
When you’re passionate about something, whether it’s producing widgets, combating sex trafficking, or running for clean water, you become dedicated to it. This dedication becomes motivation.
Motivation that you need to get the job done. You’ll see what you’re doing as something important to you and to others. Because of this, you gain the motivation you need to finish.
Passion helps you through the challenging times
What else does passion do for you? Passion will push you through those challenging times. You know that you have something you’re working toward.
The clean water crisis the world is facing is why I’ve run multiple half and full marathons. Children around the world are dying because they don’t have clean water. When I’m at mile 23 of a marathon, my passion to see those kids live full lives kicks in. My passion tells me I can go another mile, two miles, and that final third mile.
If you work in your passion, your passion will do the same thing. You’ll see trouble or challenges that seem difficult, but you’ll also know you have a reason for going after your goal.
Let your passion get you through the challenging times.
Passion kickstarts you
As much as passion will get you through the challenging times, your passion will kickstart you to get going. Think about what you’re passionate about. Is it baseball? You might set alarms for the next game. The alarm kickstarts you to get in front of the television to watch the Detroit Tigers game about to play. Or it could be soccer. Your passion for soccer kickstarts you to go to the stadium to watch your favorite team.
Your passion for leading others will do the same. You will be fueled by your passion to get started on the next project, idea, or challenge you’re facing.
Be ready to be kickstarted.
Passion can fulfill you
You’re passionate about certain things because you care about them. It may be your team at work. You care so much about their personal development that you’re willing to give of yourself. That sportsball team you love to watch, you care whether or not they win.
When you follow and fulfill your passion, you begin to feel fulfilled. You understand why you’re doing what you’re doing.
Passion will fulfill you because it
- brings you great joy
- you’re making a difference
- people are changed
Chase your passion for good.
Do you know where your passion is? If not, you need to pursue it. You need to find what brings you alive, changes lives, and brings your fulfillment.
